Derick and Len Knoetze, names synonymous with excellence in the world of pigeon racing, started their pigoen racing careers in Paarl, South Africa. From a very young age, they developed a profound love for these remarkable birds, and their passion for pigeon racing would become a defining aspect of thet lives. Early Years and Passion for Pigeons: Derick and Len was introduced to the captivating world of pigeon racing by Rudolf Botha. With unwavering determination and an innate connection to the birds, they quickly established a deep bond with these feathery companions. Derick's journey as a pigeon fancier began with his cherished signature pigeon, the illustrious Louis Botha cock, and his beloved Tommy lineage, who would go on to play a crucial role in his success. Len bought breeding pigeons from the best, trial and errored them and eventually settled on breeders from Gigi Gaddin and Butch Einkamerer. Rise to Prominence: With each passing year, Derick honed his skills and expertise in pigeon racing. He meticulously bred and trained his pigeons, instilling in them a spirit of tenacity and a will to soar to greater heights. It was not long before his dedication and hard work started paying off, and he rose to prominence within the racing community. Triumphs in the South African Pigeon Racing Union: Derick Knoetze's exceptional talents as a pigeon racer led him to compete in the Federated Board of Homing Union, the largest and most prestigious racing union in the country. In 2007, he made his mark on the sport by claiming victory as the FBHU champion, a moment that solidified his position as one of the finest pigeon racers in the nation. In the years that followed, Derick's remarkable achievements in pigeon racing continued to soar to new heights. Notably, he triumphed once again in 2020 and 2022 as the FBHU champion, adding further glory to his already illustrious career. With an unyielding determination to excel and a genuine love for his pigeons, Derick consistently proved himself as a force to be reckoned with in the racing community. Accolades and Recognition: As a testament to their unparalleled success, Derick Knoetze's trophy cabinet overflowed with numerous accolades and awards. Among his most cherished prizes were the two cars he won as rewards for his exceptional performances in pigeon racing. Each trophy was a symbol of his hard work, passion, and unwavering dedication to his feathered companions. Len Knoetze, who started racing in One Day Lofts in 2022, won the Final of AfrikaPro in 2023, with his pigeon "Triple XXX".
