Ferdie Lubbe of Mountain Lofts – one of the most famous fanciers in South Africa teamed up with Murray & Mills top fanciers from England winners of over 500 1st prize placings in racing. Mountain lofts – Owners Ferdie Lubbe & Family We start racing pigeon in 1982. Our original strains were a Desmet Mathijs cock, a John Lambrecht hen and Jannsen hen. In 1986 we add two Cocks from the loft of Freek Romein “Janssens” in Twello Netherland these pigeons form the basis of our family over the last 40 years of competitive racing and breeding as our 10th generation still produce winners at the highest level in all competitions. Our slogan “RESTING MEANS FALLING BEHIND” help us through all these years not to stagnate, hence we always continue seeking only the best pigeons locally and internationally to improve the quality of our breeding loft securing optimal performance in our race loft for the future. All new introductions are always tested when we cross them with our own family, when the babies form, this new mating’s don’t perform to our standards an expectation, within their first year in the racing loft we eliminate the new birds regardless of cost or strain. Our loft produces to date more than 600 winners in various competitions from Club, Federation, Union, Combine and Provincial level as well as in OLR. Many fanciers throughout South Africa also have great success with pigeon they obtain form us. From the start of my pigeon career, I was always involved in the administration side in various positions such as Chairman, Secretary, Race Secretary, Treasurer at Club, Federation, Union and Combine level. I served as Vice President of our National organisation SANPO where I was also in charge of the organisation’s finances. Being a multiple champion in various Clubs as wel as Pta-Federation, Pta-Union and Pta-Combine always help me to serve the pigeon racing community in assisting youngsters as well as fanciers who seek my advice to help them to perform in the sport. For us it’s a family sport and our achievements and successes over all these years could not be achieved without the helping hand from God, our creator as He walk side by side with us every day through the good times but especially through bad times. His continuous inspiration keeps us going every day.
